These terms apply to your use of the Onyx & Oyster website. By using the site, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
What Onyx & Oyster is
Onyx & Oyster is a curated discovery platform. We find boutique hotels, independent makers and distinctive experiences in a destination, present them together, and make it easier for travellers to reach them.
We are not the hotel, the restaurant, the studio or the guide. The experiences you find here are provided by independent partner businesses.
Requesting an experience
This is the most important thing on this page, so it is stated plainly:
Submitting a request is a request, not a confirmed booking. When you send one, you are telling us what you are hoping for. It does not reserve anything, and it is not a contract with the partner.
What happens next is that we — or the partner directly — will respond to discuss whether it is possible. Availability, timing, pricing and the final details are confirmed with you separately. Until you receive an explicit confirmation, nothing is booked.
Some requests cannot be fulfilled. A date may be taken, a chef may be away, a season may have ended. We will tell you when that happens.
Partner responsibility
Each partner business is responsible for the goods and services it actually provides — the quality of the meal, the condition of the room, the conduct of the experience, and its own terms, pricing, cancellation and refund arrangements.
Any agreement to provide and pay for an experience is between you and that partner. We select partners carefully and we care a great deal about how they treat guests, but we do not control their operations and we do not take on their obligations.
Information on this site
We work to keep descriptions, imagery and details accurate and current. Even so, experiences change, partners adjust what they offer, and seasons pass. Information on this site is offered in good faith and may change without notice, and it does not form part of any agreement between you and a partner.
Our content and brand
The Onyx & Oyster name, emblem, wordmark, written content, photography, design and the arrangement of this site belong to Onyx & Oyster or to the partners and photographers who licensed material to us. They are protected by copyright and trademark law.
You are welcome to read, share and link to this site. You may not copy, republish, resell or use our content or branding for commercial purposes without our written permission. Partner-supplied material remains the property of that partner.
Using the site properly
Please use the site as it is intended. In particular, do not:
- submit false, misleading or automated form submissions;
- attempt to gain access to the Partner Portal or any account that is not yours;
- interfere with, probe or attempt to disrupt the site or the systems behind it;
- scrape or bulk-collect content, imagery or partner information;
- use the site to send unlawful, abusive or deceptive material.
We use bot protection and rate limiting on our forms and sign-in pages. We may decline or remove submissions, and restrict access, where we reasonably believe these terms are being broken.
The Partner Portal
Partner accounts are created by invitation. Access to the Partner Portal is governed by the agreement between Onyx & Oyster and that partner business, which sits alongside — and where they differ, takes precedence over — these general website terms.
Links and third-party content
This site links to partner websites and other third-party sites. We do not control them and we are not responsible for their content, their availability, or their privacy and data practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the site it points to.
Availability of the site
We aim to keep the site available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. It may be unavailable during maintenance, or because of a failure in a service we depend on.
Disclaimer and limits
The site and its content are provided as they are. To the extent permitted by law, we do not give warranties about the site's accuracy, availability or fitness for a particular purpose, and we are not liable for loss arising from your use of the site or from your dealings with a partner business.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with the information you share with us. Please read it alongside these terms.
Changes to these terms
We will update these terms as Onyx & Oyster grows — particularly once payments and additional destinations are live. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
